The research focus of the Educational Psychology unit lies in the psychosocial development of children and adolescents and the relevant conditions for this in the school environment. Examples of this include studies on the mental health of schoolchildren, on violence and social exclusion in schools, and on the competencies of teachers.

The position offers excellent conditions for academic qualification in an outstanding scientific environment at the intersection of psychology and education. We are seeking a motivated individual pursuing an academic career who would like to make a significant contribution to the research field with their doctoral thesis.

The town of Senftenberg is located near the A13 motorway, about 40 km southwest of Cottbus and about 60 km north of Dresden. The surrounding Lusatian Lake District is an attractive holiday region between Berlin and Dresden.

Task

Your area of responsibility includes in
particular:

Participation in teaching, including:

  • Teaching tasks in the fields of educational, developmental and health psychology, currently for the degree programmes Vocational Education for Health Professions (MA), Physiotherapy Sciences (BA), Nursing Sciences (BA) and Midwifery Sciences (BA)
  • Preparation, implementation and evaluation of examinations as well as participation in the supervision of student theses 

Research work:

  • Scientific work within the research scope of the subject area
  • Participation in the preparation and implementation of research projects
  • Including your own in-depth scientific work in preparation for a doctoral thesis
  • Conference presentations and publications on the research topic
  • Other research-related administrative tasks
Profile

Your requirements profile:

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's/university diploma/equivalent) in a subject relevant to the position (psychology or comparable)

The following knowledge is required:

  • Good written and spoken German and English

The following knowledge is also an advantage:

  • ability to work scientifically, independence, flexibility, and communication skills
