The Max-Planck-Institute for Physics is engaged in fundamental research in particle and astroparticle physics from both experimental and theoretical perspectives. One main research activity is the participation in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Position (f/m/d)

in experimental particle physics within our ATLAS Inner Detector Group. The data analysis program pursued concentrates on precision measurements within the Standard Model in the area of top-quark physics, primarily on high-precision measurements of the top-quark mass and their combination. The hardware activities of the group focus on the construction of the new ATLAS pixel detector for the high luminosity phase of the LHC.

Your tasks

The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in our top-quark physics analyses to further improve their scope and precision. In addition, but at a significantly lower level, we encourage participation in our hardware activities.

Your profile

We are seeking an outstanding candidate holding a PhD in experimental particle physics. We expect experience in Monte Carlo simulation, data analysis and preferably also in fitting methods, good communication skills, capability to effectively work in a team and willingness for business travel in accordance with the needs of our research.

Our offer

Salary and benefits are according to the German public service pay scale (TVöD Bund). The contract is initially limited to three years and can be extended in accordance with German law and available funding.
