The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg invites applications for a Project Coordinator (m/f/d) to support the coordination of the new Max Planck program MP-AIX, which aims to connect research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with the diverse scientific disciplines of the Max Planck Society.
The program will establish a network comprising multiple Max Planck Institutes and introduce joint supervision for doctoral researchers across institutes. Due to the expected large number of participating institutes and partners, the program requires a dedicated coordination structure.
The position will be located at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg and will work closely with the coordination office at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen.
Your tasks
- Coordinating the overall implementation of the program together with the partner coordination office
- Organizing and supporting the recruiting and selection process for doctoral researchers
- Coordinating the development and operation of a central recruiting and application platform as well as the program website
- Coordinating the administration between participating Max Planck Institutes
- Organizing meetings of the AIX steering committee and preparing relevant documentation
- Supporting the development of cooperation agreements between participating institutes (i.e. Ellis network)
- Developing standards for co-supervision and mobility between institutes
- Planning and organizing workshops, summer schools, and networking events
- Supporting the development of an interdisciplinary AI-and-Science community within the Max Planck Society
- Managing and monitoring the program budget in coordination with the institute administration
- Preparing reports for funding bodies, MPG committees and the public
- Tracking scientific outputs and publications emerging from the network
- Coordinating communication activities and public outreach in collaboration with participating institutes
Your qualifications
- A university degree in an AI relevant field; a PhD is desirable
- Experience in research or project coordination (e.g. research consortia, graduate programs, EU projects) is an advantage
- Interest in topics related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or data-driven science
- Experience in coordinating complex networks or international collaborations is desirable
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Fluency in English
