Responsibilities:
- Design and development of door and hatch systems, including mechanisms like hinge,
sliding, and folding systems - Integration of door mechanisms such as locking systems, latches, seals, and electrical
components (e.g., power windows) - Development of efficient assembly concepts and solutions for door and hatch assembly
in the production process - Selection and application of materials such as steel, aluminum, plastics, and composites
(e.g., CFRP, GFRP) - Performing crash simulations and structural analyses to ensure safety requirements are
met in case of accidents - Optimizing soundproofing and acoustics in door and hatch components
- Using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks) to model and create
manufacturing drawings - Conducting FEM analyses and motion analyses to validate the functionality and safety
of door mechanisms - Planning and conducting tests like load tests, crash tests, wind tunnel tests, and durability analyses to validate components
- Ensuring quality control and performing failure analysis during series production, working closely with manufacturing to improve fit, functionality, and durability
- Project planning, coordination, and budgeting for door and hatch development projects,
including collaboration with other departments such as bodywork, interior, electronics,
and manufacturing - Performing cost estimation and selecting suppliers for door and hatch components
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001,
IATF 16949) in door and hatch production
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- Strong knowledge in the design of doors and hatches and their mechanisms
- Experience with manufacturing technologies such as stamping, drawing, forming, injection molding, welding, and adhesive bonding
- Experience with crash simulations and FEM analysis
- Proficient in CAD software and simulation tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or Altair
HyperWorks - Knowledge of materials, especially for doors and hatches like aluminum, steel, and
composites - Experience in planning and conducting tests to validate door and hatch components
- Ability to collaborate across departments and manage projects
- Understanding ergonomic and safety requirements for door and hatch mechanisms
- Experience in cost estimation and supplier coordination
- Knowledge of relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards
As an exterior designer for doors and hatches in the automotive sector, you will be responsible for developing the outer components of a vehicle that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. These components include vehicle doors, tailgates, hoods, trunk lids, and other opening mechanisms. A degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field is required. To succeed in this role, you need strong technical knowledge, design capabilities, material expertise, manufacturing experience, and project coordination skills.
