PhD Candidate (m/f/d): Preclinical Metabolomics

Your tasks:

  • Researching oxidative stress within lymph nodes caused by metastatic melanoma
  • Biochemical and histopathological characterization of tumor cells in tissues using chemical and fluorescence staining
  • Handling in vivo and in vitro models to test research hypothesis and refine study designs
  • Studying lipid alterations of tumorous material by mass spectrometry imaging
  • Quantification of corresponding lipids using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry
  • Data analysis of sequencing and microscopy data
  • Data analysis of mass spectrometry data

Your profile:

  • Masters, Diploma or equivalent degree in Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related subjects
  • Good understanding of tools such cell cultures, histopathology, microscopy, and/or chromatography
  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometers is a plus
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills
  • Basic understanding of cancer biology is preferable

The salary will be according to the German TV-L. The part-time position (65%) is offered for 3,5 years. The position is available immediately. The time limitation of the contract is based on the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).
