UMIT TIROL – Private University for Health Sciences and Technologies (UMIT TIROL for short) is an internationally recognised private university owned by the Province of Tyrol and the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck, with its headquarters in Hall in Tirol, Austria. With over 1,500 students, it is one of the largest private universities in Austria. To further develop the field of medical informatics, the private university is filling a position at the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Mechatronics for a
university professorship for Digital Medicine and Telehealth (f/m/d)
with a 100% employment rate. This university professorship will be filled after a regular appointment procedure in accordance with Article 1 of the UMIT TIROL appointment guidelines and is permanent.
The main areas of focus are information systems to support networked healthcare and integrated forms of care, secondary use of clinical data, modelling and simulation, and artificial intelligence methods.
The successful candidate will also head the Division of Digital Medicine and Telehealth at the Institute of Medical Informatics.
Main tasks:
- heading the Digital Medicine and Telehealth Division at the Institute for Medical Informatics
- representing and further developing the above-mentioned topics in research and teaching
- methodologically sound, application-oriented research in one or more of the above-mentioned areas, including the acquisition of research funding
- establishing and expanding cooperation networks for the transfer of research results into application
- active participation in the organisation of the Master's programme in Medical Informatics
- participation in teaching (including the Master's programme in Medical Informatics, the university course in Health Information Management, doctoral programmes; supervision of theses)
- development and implementation of own continuing education courses (microcredentials) within the framework of the UMIT TIROL-Academy
- reflective approach to and experience with gender issues, equality and diversity, as well as a willingness to actively incorporate these aspects into research, teaching and academic self-administration
- participation in academic self-administration
Required qualifications:
- relevant habilitation or equivalent qualification
- outstanding research achievements and international visibility, documented by relevant publications or scientific activities in industry
- experience in acquiring and successfully implementing third-party funded or industrial projects in the above-mentioned research areas
- experience in establishing regional, national or international cooperation networks
- qualification as a manager and willingness to promote young academics
- didactic aptitude for university teaching
- experience in university teaching and in supervising theses at all levels desirable
- willingness to use innovative and online-based teaching formats
- ability and willingness to teach in English
The salary is based on the salary scale and job classification scheme of UMIT TIROL. A gross monthly salary of at least €6,604 (14 times per year) is envisaged for this position. A higher salary is possible depending on qualifications and experience.
