Head Estimator (a)
In the position of the Head Estimator (a) you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase by accurately estimating the costs associated with special lightweight structures and facade construction projects. Your expertise in cost estimation, project analysis and industry trends will contribute to the company's success in delivering high-quality solutions to clients. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers and subcontractors to ensure that project bids are competitive, accurate and aligned with client requirements.
You can expect these challenges:
- Utilise your deep understanding of special lightweight structures and facade construction materials, methods and techniques to provide accurate cost estimates for potential projects
- Analyse project specifications, architectural drawings and engineering plans to identify project scope, materials, labour and other cost factors
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to assess project risks and opportunities and incorporate them into cost estimates
- Conduct detailed take-offs and quantify the amounts of materials required for each project, including glass panels, aluminium frames, fasteners, sealants, insulation and other components
- Leverage industry-standard software and tools for estimating, such as cost databases and specialised software applications, to ensure precision in your calculations
- Prepare comprehensive and professional bid proposals that outline the scope of work, estimated costs, timelines and any necessary clarifications
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and availability information for materials and labour
- Maintain detailed records of cost estimates, quotes, project documents and communication with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers and other stakeholders to align cost estimates with project goals and client expectations
- Provide support and mentorship to junior estimators, sharing your expertise and helping them to develop their skills
You will inspire us with this:
- University degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field
- Several years of experience in construction cost estimation, with a focus on special lightweight structures, facades and architectural elements
- Deep knowledge of special lightweight structures and facade materials, construction techniques and industry best practices
- Proficiency in using cost estimation software and tools
- Strong negotiation skills for dealing with suppliers and subcontractors
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to grow a team around you
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire and motivate teams towards common goals
- Good German and fluent English skills
